very pleasant. we stayed here last year and the hotel has been nicely upgraded. English Breakfast was very nice and less greasy than you might expect.Easy and short work to the center of Exeter.
"Very clean, comfortable room and friendly staff"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jul 25, 2012
Only stayed for one night but services were great and the room was spacious and very comfortable. Great amenities. Parking very close. Hotel breakfast was good with large variety of food offered. Thank you so much for a delightful first night in the UK.
"right by the Cathedral. Great location."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jun 18, 2012
Great restaurant, noisy pubs next door. Make sure you ask for a quiet room if you don't want loud bar noise till 11:30 PM on week ends.
"A very nice and comfortable country hotel."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 10, 2012
Nearly everything was fine, except the weather and being given a bathroom for a disabled person. I always like to have a bath in my hotel room.
"Holiday Inn Express Exeter is great with a car"Reviewed by Teresa E of "Corvallis, OR" on Jan 24, 2012
Holiday Inn Express Exeter is clean, roomy, comfy, and convenient as long as you have a car to get around. Close to motorways, but watch out for nearby road construction. Exeter is a fascinating city and a good base for surrounding area, again, as long as you have a car. Staff were really helpful, too. Biggest problem for us at the end of a long day: there is one good, large restaurant across the parking lot from this hotel, but it was fully booked at Christmas time so we had to drive 15 minutes into the city and finding another good restaurant wasn't so easy. They do have snacks in the bar at the hotel, but no more.
"Great access to the town centre and the cathedral"Reviewed by David W of "Houston, TX" on Jul 20, 2011
The Southgate Mercure is a very nice hotel in an historic and charming city. We were pleased that we stayed in one of the recently renovated rooms, which was quite lovely (a general renovation seems to be underway). The service was excellent, the breakfasts, great, and the sense of style in both the public areas and the newly redone rooms is quite strong in terms of eye appeal.
