  This was a wonderful hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast was outstanding. All of these good things and we left with a bad taste in our mouths because upon checking in the staff asked us if we would like a paper in the morning and we said sure, however we not informed that there be a charge for the paper until we checked out. We were not happy and we would not have taken the paper had we known it wasn't free. We complained about not being told of the cost before hand and the staff replyed that they wouldn't tell us about the cost unless we asked.

  My wife and found Hotel 53 to be a roomy, comfortable and convenient Hotel near York's center. A great alternative to the older hotels and B&Bs. The room was large, the bathroom clean and modern and the overall facility was clean and bright. The bar was a welcome break after an evening out at one of the quaint restaurants nearby. Breakfast in the morning was a hearty British Breakfast with Continental options. Parking was available across the street. We'll be back to the Hotel 53.

  Everyone was very friendly. They have a great restaurant and we enjoyed our meal there on the first night. There are nearby restaurants and the cathedral is only a 10 minute walk. The only issue was that we found the beds a little hard and the room a little warm (but actually this was true of all the hotels in the UK). Otherwise it was modern and inviting. Thanks for a great stay!

  The room was lovely and super clean. The hotel was the perfect location - right near the train station and in walking distance to the city center.

  This hotel was wonderful. The room was beautiful and the food was great. Unfortunately we were only here for one night but we definitely will be back.

  Beautiful location and convenient to all the sites. Everything in York is within walking distance. The room was very clean and comfortable as well. Enjoyed our visit.
