"Cosy is Cozy"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Nov 23, 2012
Cosy's is across the street from some of the main buildings of the Universite Catholique in Lille, which makes it an ideal place to stay if you have business at the university or are visiting a student. The co-location with the school makes for a youthful energy on the street - but it is still somewhat of a haven on the inside. In spite of an "in its bones" mildewy smell that lingered in the bathroom, the property was well maintained, the rooms bigger than expected, the beds comfortable, and the property largely quiet. The kitchen was surprisingly well equipped with small refrigerator, dual-burner, stovetop, coffeemaker, pots and pans, dinnerware, etc., making it easy to prepare in-room meals with groceries from the supermarket about 3 blocks away. Recommend stocking your kitchen as the area does not exactly have a "24/7" lifestyle. Internet was functional but occasionallly clumsy and slow. Could have used one English-language television channel or some English captions on the news. Would not recommend the hotel breakfast - a little expensive and schedule limiting. Instead, take a one or two block walk and get some delicious pastries and coffee from one of many boulangeries in the area. Always seemed to be someone at the desk who spoke enough English to answer questions, provide direction, etc. Definitely a positive experience. If I return to Lille, I would stay there again.
"Great location and complete equipped."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Sep 12, 2012
I really enjoyed staying this apt. Very close to city center, stores nearby, easy parking, nice staff service, complete kitchen to prepare meals, fair price.
"Decent, but not ideal"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Aug 2, 2012
It's great if saving money is what you really need to do. The apartment itself was decently sized for European standards, and we loved having a kitchen and being able to cook. The room, however, REEKED of cigarette smoke, and opening the balcony door didn't help or oculdn't be done much because there were so many other smokers. Also, either there was no air conditioning or ours didn't work. It seemed like the thermostat included AC, but it never happened for us. The reception area is only open during certain hours - if you arrive outside of the hours you have to have call them, and good luck finding a payphone if you are an international traveler with no cell. It's a bit of a hike from anywhere you want to be, but you can take the Metro to within a reasonable distance. When we arrived, we just walked from Lille Flandres, but it was further than it seemed and we regretted it. When we left, we took the Metro. The nearest market we saw was the Carrefour near the Lille Flandres train station, which is quite a hike with heavy groceries. So we just bought small amounts of food each day, rather than making one large trip the first day. Neighborhood was clean and safe. I'd stay closer to "old city" if I had more money, but for the young/healthy/walking/penny-pinching population, the location is livable.

Great little hotel that is located in a great part of the city. You can walk everywhere. Tons of restaurants and shops less than 5 minutes walking. Only complaint was no air conditioning and no wi fi. Hotel staff was supe nice and ver willing to help find a good place to eat or have a drink.
"Excellent location and services!"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 12, 2012
We were very pleased with our stay at the Carlton. Hotel is well situated, priced reasonably, and services were excellent. We would definitely stay there again.
"Centrally located friendly little hotel"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 10, 2012
Excellent small hotel. Location superb, close to heart of the old town yet on a really quiet street. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast room rather small and cramped with tables too narrow for comfort. I liked the egg boiling gadget! Wake up service rather unreliable. Overall, an excellent stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.
