"No frills, but tolarable"Reviewed by Beth W of "Salem, OR" on Jun 18, 2011
We had a room on the top floor in the turret and that may be why we liked it. There were 4 windows (only 3 opened), thus we had a wonderful breeze and lots of bright sunshine. However the carpet was not clean - I wore shoes the entire time. But, the sheets and bathroom were clean. I think it just needs some updating. Parking was the biggest problem. They only have 4 spaces out front and no parking garages close by. Parking on the street is fine for the morning because they only charge from 9-12 and then it is free until 2. However, the afternoon is a real problem because 3-hour parking is not enough to get you from 2pm until 7pm. I found that very stressful. But, we were fortunate to get one of the 4 spaces when we returned to feed the meter. The other problem was the wireless. It was free, but it did not reach to the 6th floor, so we could only use it in the lobby. Then, on the second day, it stopped working - you could connect, but not log in. The location was good if you don't mind walking. It was about a 15 minute walk into town, but it is in the midst of the university area, so there were cafes and restaurants close by.
"Good hotel but....."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2011
.....we had room on the street w/ balcony, and in the wee hours a few patrons at the bar below us were noisy. Otherwise, enjoyable: clean, comfortable, nice people, great location and proximity to sights and le gare.
