"Great staff, pleasant stay but not really central"Reviewed by Katie W of "Brooklyn, NY" on Aug 10, 2010
The staff at Central Hotel Leipzig were most helpful and welcoming. I arrived in the evening about 7:30 or 8 pm, however, and discovered that nearly all the restaurants in the surrounding neighborhood were already closed. The Leipzig Hauptbanhof (main train station) and central Leipzig are actually a few miles away from the hotel. If you don't have a car, there is a tram you can use to reach the city center (hotel staff will be glad to point you in the right direction), or you could take a taxi for a pretty reasonable fee.

"More for the Money"Reviewed by John W of "Phoenix" on Jul 24, 2009
Essentially apartments turned hotel which means living room, stocked kitchen, private bath, and bedroom with balcony. Easy access to trams going to Old Town or opposite way to 1814 Napoleon battlefield. Large and inexpensive grocery store about 15 mins. walk away (follow tram tracks) so you can home cook. Not luxurious but a nice break from the formal hotel routine. Staff friendly and helpful. Free bottled water on arrival. Laundromat nearby at tram stop but costly at $8 or so per wash/dry load.
