"Great place, great location"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Apr 23, 2012
This hotel is about 15 minutes by foot from the main train station. The location on the lake is beautiful. Great for a walk or jog. The bar on the 9th floor is excellent, especially for a night cap. There are plenty of restaurants about two blocks from the hotel and the train is not too far either. The rooms are clean and very large. The shower and bath are huge and the bed is fantastic! I would recommend this hotel for anyone visting Hamburg.

Had room 22 which is facing a main road. If you have issues sleeping due to traffic noise, better asking for another one. Room has a good size and a huge window with a very nice view. However, the room at night was really cold, like the hotel had switch off the cental heating for the season (it was 0 C outside during the night). Staff was ok, no more, no less. Good internet connection (no need to buy the vouchers from the front desk). Had some room service from the restaurant which was good.
"Hotel Novum Hamburg Stadtmitte"Reviewed by Rob B of "Winston-Salem, NC" on Apr 1, 2012
This hotel is a good value for the money. It is located one block from the central railway station, making it convenient to get to anywhere in Germany within a five minute walk. The room was adequate. Internet service was fine, but the TV was an old 12-inch analog box. Carpet was not padded; bath was small. Desk staff was helpful and friendly, and the breakfast was adequate. The neighborhood - well, it is entertaining. There is quite a mix of businesses, from restaurants to grocery stores to budget department stores to sex shops - several of them, including one next to the hotel entrance. Street hookers regularly work the block 24/7. It's entertaining, but it felt a little sleazy outside the hotel. Still, I'd stay there again.

"Sofitel hotel Hamburg Alter wall"Reviewed by Jon V of "Berkshires of Mass" on Mar 31, 2012
Our stay was a lengthy one, 10 days. The personnel were wonderful, very friendly and extremely helpful. The room was well equiped. The beds were incredible.soft but supportive and yielded a great nights sleep. The choice of seven different pillows was important. The coffee machine in the room did not work well. Breakfast was great, but the coffee was not up to Hamburg standards.
