The rooms were nothing special, but clean and neat. The included breakfast was delicious and even served eggs and coldcuts. We were on the 5th floor so it was quiet, but a long hike for luggage, no elevator. I also noticed slight cigarette smell coming into the room from somewhere at night.

This is a Hostel rather than a hotel. We reserved a family room, which should have had a double bed and bunks. We ended up in a room with all bunks. There are no TVs or phones in the rooms but you aren’t there to watch TV anyway. Internet is available at no charge in the lobby or for 5 Euro in rooms. The hotel staff is friendly and courteous. There are only 10 parking spaces at the hotel for guests and staff. If you drive anything larger than a 3-series BMW, it will be a tight fit. There is ample city parking within a few minutes’ walk. If you arrive after 1600, you can park in front of the hotel free until 1000 the following morning. The neighborhood looks a little rough but it is a short walk to the train station and shopping district. Food at the hotel is limited to a continental breakfast, bar and a couple small restaurants sharing the building. There is plenty to eat for the entire family at the train station or shopping district. As with most German cities, you can get anywhere you would want to go by train or bus.

"Good Location"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 12, 2012
Room was clean. Proximity to Hamburg-Altona train station is very convenient. Great bus and train connections. I think the noise from the station was not a problem either. You can close the windows to make it absolutely quiet if you are on the side of the hotel near the train station. Breakfast cost 9 Euro, but it was excellent!
"close to the airport"Reviewed by Chris K of "Cincinnati, OH" on Dec 14, 2011
This hotel is a short cab ride from the airport. We enjoyed the "fireplace" on the TV screen. No restaurants around. We did not have a car and we ended up walking MANY blocks to find an Asian restaurant. The hotel was clean and comfortable.
"Depends on where you'll be"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Sep 23, 2011
The hotel itself is okay for a night or two. In fact, it's pretty nice for how cheap it is. Friendly staff that can speak English well, free wifi, even a small continental breakfast. The only downside is its location. Depending on where your business is in Hamburg, it can become a bit of a hassle getting to where you want to go. There are bus stops nearby, but the nearest train station is roughly a 15-20 minute hike. And if it's a weekday, then you have to take the night bus, which is even further away. If you don't mind all the traveling, then I recommend it. Otherwise, pay the extra money for a different, closer hotel.
"Hotel is close to restaurants & attractions"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jun 30, 2011
We chose this Ibis because it was in between train station and cruise terminal, and it was just a block or so from the U-bahn. It was easy to get to using public transportation. We had never heard of the Reeperbahn, but we did not mind the neighborhood. We did not see any sex shows, but we spent a few hours at The Beatles museum. The waterfront was a 20 minute walk, where we caught a tourist bus for a long, enjoyable trip around Hamburg. Ibis has a great buffet breakfast. We stayed at Ibis in Vienna and hoped this one would be as nice. It was.
