We selected The Hotel Astoria because of it's close proximity to the train station. We thoroughtly enjoyed the hotel, and all of it's ambiance. The reception staff couldn't have been more accomodating. Upon our arrival, after a full day of exhausting train travel, we were ready to relax with a glass of wine at the penthouse bar. Unfortunately, the female bartender was unattentive and was more interested in serving the two guys sitting next to us. Too bad, as it set the stage for our first hour in Lucerne. Also, the recommended Thai restaurant affiliated with the hotel was extremely expensive. The complimentary breakfast was fantastic. Although the part of Lucerne we wanted to visit was across the bridge, it was still located within a short walking distance to the hotel. We would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family.
