Montreal is Canada's second-largest city and is located on the St Lawrence Seaway in the province of Quebec. The city lies on an island known as Montreal and derives its name from the three peaked hill in the centre of the city known as Mount Royal. Montreal is a majority French-speaking city and owes its European origins to the French fur-trapping and trading center that developed there.

How to get to Montreal

Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL), formerly known as Dorval Airport, receives both domestic visitors and those from overseas. The area is well served with airport hotels. However, the airport is situated approximately 8 miles west of where visitors can find downtown hotels. Amtrak trains travel to Montreal from the US. The central station (gare centrale) is downtown. My daughter and I stayed at the Residence Inn downtown Montreal and had a good experience. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and nice. The location was perfect for all that we had planned. The only reason I didn't give a 5 star rating is because the beds were just awful. They seemed old, hard and just plain uncomfortable. I would recommend staying here, but would ask for a room with new beds.

We have stayed at this property a few times when visiting Montreal. Spacious, comfortable, good location. The apartment like living is nice if you are visiting Montreal for more than a couple of days, especially when normal hotel rooms start feeling cramped.

I went to Montreal for a Canadiens game and this hotel is within walking distance of the Bell Centre. The entire staff was incredibly helpful, pointing out great eateries tourist attractions.
