"unique experience"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Aug 23, 2012
the hotel is very quaint, was very annoyed upon arrival as the front desk clerk was rather unfriendly, also, I had specifically requested the corner room when I called for the reservation and it was NOT available when we checked in. The location is excellent, however, the panhandlers out front were a bit of a shock., would not stay there if travelling alone (without my husband or sons) The restoration is good, however, the details are poorly done, lousy paint job and poor workmanship in finishing work. (my husband is a contractor so notice every detail.... and commented on how poorly the workmanship was.) All in all a fairly pleasant stay
"Hotel in Saskatoon-easy access to everything"Reviewed by Kathy S of "Manitoba" on Mar 21, 2012
We stayed in Saskatoon for 3 nights and we spent our 3rd night here. The staff were friendly, fast and courteous. The room was clean. We decided to stay a 4th night and booked a room here again. The 1st to nigths of our stay, we stayed at another lodging which was very expensive and didn't even feel comfortable. At the Thriftlodge the price was reasonable and was comfortable.
"Delta needs the coming upgrade"Reviewed by Richard W of "Lisle, IL" on Feb 20, 2012
Love this property...always have, always will. However, for the second time in a row, I was in a somewhat substandard room (at least I did not pay for the upgrade this time). They have a much ballyhooed (seemingly for the last year plus) coming and it is needed. While the property is still impeccable in service and its stately, traditional feel and architecture can't be topped, I write for a second time regarding the poor state of repair of the room in which I was lodged (and this coming somebody who stays there regularly...can't imagine what you might have to deal with if they did not know you at all!). Overall, the room simply looked run down. It is not that it was not clean and well appointed, it was just run down and old looking. For example, when I first walked into the bathroom and opened the lid on the toilet, first glance suggested that the seat itself was actually horribly soiled. However, when I looked again, I realized that it was just that the seat had been worn down to the underlying supporting material and that was the dark color showing through. However, startle aside, having a simple toilet seat show that level of wear is just not something that one expects from a hotel of this quality. I look forward to seeing the results of this promised "multi-million dollar" room upgrade. It is much needed. Though, truth be told, I feel like I have been seeing those signs hanging around the hotel for at least a year (seems like longer) and I have yet to experience a room that looks upgraded to me.
"Short Stay"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jan 23, 2012
We came to Saskatoon to attend a funeral, so we did not spend much time in the hotel. It is located on a main thoroughfare so that was convenient for us to come and go. Everything was satisfactory.
