The room is clean and basic, good value for the price overall. The annoying thing is the price of internet (about $12 a day), though there is one computer downstairs you can use for free but only during certain hours.”
People generally refer to W Hotels as the benchmark of cool hotels. In this case, I would say LKF far exceeds that benchmark. I've been to so many Ws and other hotels all over the world, but LKF's property quality, attentiveness and friendliness of the staff, and desirability of location far exceeds most of the so-called "cool hotels" that people rave about. And yes, this hotel looks very modern, but it doesn't feel as cold as the Ws. Top notch experience, the rooms are of a good size (especially considering that this is HK), the lobby is pretty cool, the penthouse bar is fun, and the hotel staff is very friendly and helpful (which says a lot since it was New Year's when I was there and the hotel was 100% booked). Location-wise, it's hard to beat this too -- you're right at Lan Kwai Fong, 2 blocks away from SoHo and also 2 blocks away from the subway and the escalators that basically take you everywhere in HK, and you're within walking distance or a 5-minute cab ride to the IFC where you can catch a train to the airport (hint: don't take a cab from the airport...just take the train to "Hong Kong" and that will take you to IFC) or a ferry to Kowloon. And for new year's, your room key helps you bypass all the police barricades along LKF, so you can basically go everywhere despite their crowd control barriers. Do yourself a favor and skip the usual hotels when you go to HK and book yourself a night at LKF.”
The studio apartment is roomy and comfortable. The location could not be better for restaurants and nightlife. I loved the stylish furnishings. The only downside was there is some water damage on the ceiling and in the bathroom so it was a bit of an eyesore. It's too bad because it really would be excellent except for the water damage.”
My previous stay was at another 5 star hotel in Canada, called the Royal York. The hotel Landmark Mandarin was by far more luxurious and filled with Amenities than the other hotel. I can say my expectations were far exceeded and this hotel deserves another star. The Landmark was at attached to a very posh mall that only had designer stores. Across the street was the night district of Lan Kwai Fong. I spent most of my nights at the many bars in this location.”
Mandarin Oriental was simply amazing! Ended our 5-city Asia trip with Mandarin Oriental in HK. We redeemed our free night with Hotel.com, which allowed us to select a pretty pricey hotel. It's a great hotel but I'm not sure if I would dish out the pricey rate for a stay. The service on the main floor was absolutely stunning! Everyone was so attentive! Complementary dry fruits in the room was nice touch!”
To make it easier to locate hotel: 1. Had to surf internet to find the reception telephone number. 2. A ready to print "travel direction" in chinese, to show taxi driver , will also make things a lot faster.”
From the minute you enter the hotel to the minute you check out, you are pampered and treated as if you are the only guest they have. For old-school service, this hotel cannot be beat and I've been to them all - the Peninsula, the Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, Ritz-Carlton, you name it.”
What I liked about the Conrad: it's next to Hong Kong park, has elevators leading to one of Hong Kong's largest malls, about a 10 minute walk to MTR (subway), most of the rooms have great view of the harbor or mountain, the rooms are simple yet feel warm and the pool makes this a great place for family.”
I stayed in Hong Kong for two nights and booked into Mingle. I had a double to myself. For a short stay it was ideal. Clean, modern, not cramped for (not huge either), friendly/helpful staff, open 24 hours. It is in a business area so quiet as of an evening but right next to an MTR station so the transport connections are good. Recommended.”
We chose this hotel because it was a good rate and included breakfast, which is definitely not to be missed! Not quite as spectacular architecture/decor as some of the other major hotels in the area, but but still of a very high standard, and it felt more relaxed for a leisure traveller. Very conveniently located for shopping and public transport. Good swimming pool for a city centre hotel. If you can afford the limo service to and from the airport this is excellent.”
Amazing place. From the moment you 'Check In" in your room you start to experience the wonders of the hotel. The room was large by any standards, but extremely so for Hong Kong. It was the little things that made the difference, like the fully equipped 'maxibar' where all drinks and snacks were free of charge, your own espresso machine in your room. Very modern furnisihings, with everything controlled electonically. In built surround sound system with an ipod docking station to listen to your music in the shower or in the living room. Beautiful and modern bathroom facilities with and a huge walkin shower. Definately staying there again!”
