"Great location, felt safe, good hotel"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 6, 2013
I will say some pros and cons to the hotel and you can decide what is most important to you in your stay. Pros: location, felt safe, great room service, great food, staff knew english. Housekeeping was amazing. Cons: wireless didn't work in room the first time I stayed there, it did work when I came back in another room though. No english tv channels. Breakfast buffet was way overpriced. Music from Karaoke club was loud and annoying throughout some days and nights while I was there on my second stay. Beds weren't too comfortable, a queen is basically 2 doubles pushed together so there is a big gap down the middle that can be uncomfortable. I would recommend staying, it is very convenient to the center of the city, it is safe, and the staff was very helpful.
"4 star hotel at 2 star price"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 5, 2013
This new hotel (less than year old) has luxury decorations and stylish furniture. Staff are friendly and speak English well. I am from Los Angeles, and can't believe the value I got for staying at the Hotel Kalifornia. (The theme is not like California at all - no Palm trees/no Spanish architecture. I am not sure why they chose the name.) The included breakfast has a nice variety for all dietary preferences. Twenty four hour hot water and clean plumbing. Cleaning staff were very fast and thorough. Only negatives are thin mattress(can feel coil springs) and thin walls(luckily i have earplugs). Location is short walk to Deribasovskaya Street(retail/restaurant district).

The assistance of Maria was extremely helpful. The location was very good, the courtyard and hallways and cleanliness needs improvement, there were cats and smell present. The room was pleasant and clean and had everything that was needed.
"Ditto other reviews"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jan 5, 2013
Yes, it is far from any Odessa attractions/restaurants/pubs. Taxis are cheap to get to the city center but traffic can be a problem and the one-way trip can take nearly an hour. Hotel itself is located inside a gated community; no concerns with safety and it was exceptionally quiet. Our stay was five nights beginning Dec 28 and, as far as I could tell, we were the only guests during that time. The staff was exceptional and went out of their way to make us comfortable and feel welcome. We spent New Year's Eve at the hotel...I was impressed the hotel would even open the restaurant for one table - they'd asked us the day before to select from the menu so they'd have the ingredients on hand. Five Stars for that! Our meal was superb and included a complimentary bottle of champagne to bring in the New Year. The only suggestions I'd have for the hotel would be to put a coffee pot in the room and keep the common area bottled water dispensers filled (assume they are better maintained during busier times). In sum...great place, great staff, but far from everything.

"Great Place!"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Sep 13, 2012
This was my first time in Ukraine (along with my mother) from the U.S. The staff was friendly and the place was very well maintained. I really appreciate how they gave a wake-up call, and they called a taxi for me and my mother to the airport. I also think that it is great that they have free airport shuttle service (however, thanks to Charles De Gaulle Airport in France, I missed this opportunity and I felt bad for the manager as they waited for us). I don't know why there are bad reviews about this place, because I felt comfortable here. In addition, this is within walking distance to Odessa's highlights. In my personal opinion, I highly recommend this to travelers.

Hotel Staff (Anastasia),was great, the location was difficult, close to sea and party like atmosphere, but the noise outside was pretty bad. The hotel in general was clean neat, and tidy, the staff was wonderful, the rooms were okay, the walls between rooms were quite thin. The kitchen and staff, superior. Not too much problem with the English language. I would stay there again
