"Marriott Stay"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 25, 2013
Although the hotel staff were gracious and extremely accommodating, the "up sell" at the front desk was a bit much...wi fi, breakfast etc. The bathroom had a mirror with rust spots all along the edges. Liked the in bath clothes line. Room was spacious though the light buttons were a bit hard to figure out. Security is quite tight at all Indian hotels with checks of luggage, metal detectors, car inspections including bomb-sniffing dogs. Nevertheless, the security detail was quite pleasant.
"Great experience"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 24, 2013
I booked this hotel based on its proximity to the US consulate. This is also within 2 miles to the OFC appointment center. The staff were pleasant and courteous. The complimentary breakfast buffet had an appropriate mix of south Indian and estern cuisine. Overall a pleasant stay.

"Good basic hotel"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jan 16, 2013
My wife and I stayed four nights. We found the room comfortable, up-to-date, and clean. Hotel staff was helpful but a bit slow to respond. (Kettle did not work and was not repaired or replaced.) The buffet breakfast was excellent. We would stay again.
"Clean"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jan 7, 2013
Tha Aloft Chennai was clean. The service was good. The complimentary breakfast was excellent. The dinner I bought in the the same restaurant was not very good and over priced. The pool is clean and pleasant. The spa was excellent. Overall, a good stay and I would go there again.
"Good hotel but..."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Dec 29, 2012
It seems the hotel staff is not used to see backpackers as it is a posh-wanna-be hotel. Our stay was good, the room was comfortable and clean but it was quite far from what we wanted to see. If you are a luxury traveler you would love it but otherwise it is a little overwhelming.

Beautiful oasis in a sprawling city - Chennai is not a walking city, but nice rooms and refreshing pool may keep you in. Buffet breakfast is superb. The only problem is the abundance of mosquitoes at the entrance area. Some get into the public areas of the hotel despite the staff's efforts. Normally this wouldn't be a big deal, but this is India where malaria/dengue are a concern. Travel desk charges 5x the going rate to hire a car/driver so you're better off doing that on your own. Otherwise, it's a nice place.
