"Great Little Hotel on the outskirts of Cabo"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 25, 2013
El Ameyal is a wonderfully maintained smaller hotel that's away from the action of downtown Cabo. Rooms are very clean, modern, and spacious. We loved our 1 BR suite, very comfortable, had everything we needed (full kitchen, all utensils, microwave, blender, toaster, etc). Room also had 2 balconies with patio doors off the bedroom and living room. Staff was very welcoming and helped us with everything we asked them for or had questions about. Location is on main road into Cabo. Yes, you can hear the traffic, but the noise never really bothered us. It's about a 5 minute bus ride to downtown and bus pickup is right in front of hotel. Pool area is well maintained, quiet, and a nice place to spend the day. We would definitely return to El Ameyal on our next visit to Cabo.

My recent stay was very good, the normal uncomfortable questions concerning my Latina girlfriend are annoying but expected!! the location of this Hotel is so convenient to the central and Marina part of Cabo, that it makes everything you need, available with short walking distances.
"Great choice for budget stay"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 23, 2013
I was in Cabo on my way to some great beach adventures in La Paz and Magdalena Bay, so I was looking for clean and inexpensive, and got it! There was a bit of a musty smell, and one of the bedrooms with a King sized bed didn't have a window (didn't even look at it, but in hind site, it might have been the quieter choice!). The staff was fantastic, and as a female traveling alone, I felt quite comfortable, including walking to the marina and nearby restaurants alone after dark. If you are interested in the party scene, this hotel is only about 4 blocks from the party clubs (Hard Rock, Cabo Wabo). But, this hotel is also only about 4 blocks from the party noise, which can be heard, along with road traffic. Not sure there is anywhere in Cabo you won't hear that kind of noise though!. If I return to Cabo on a tight budget, I will look forward to returning.

The place was truly amazing for the price. The food was pretty good. We enjoyed the Asian and Italian restuarants the best. We had no problem getting reservations. Gotta get the fried ice cream at the Asian. Be sure to bring some $1 bills. It helps at the bar but the service was great, even w/o the bills. We stayed at the pool all day. There's certainly lots of entertainment. Bldg 7 is def the party bldg and we even had fun in the disco. I think with all vacations, it's what you make it!!! Oh, we loved taking the glass bottom boat to see the rocks and sea lions. Also, bring a sound machine- that helps. Finally, we weren't happy with our room the first day but they switched us the second day and we had an amazing view. I would try and get on the second floor or higher. It was a perfect getaway with my husband and our friends. Can't wait for the next trip!!

Location can't be beat. Next to the Office and the only swimable beach. Vendors can be annoying as they try and sell you anything you want. Pool scene was cool, not as crazy as Vegas but great service. Rooms were decent except only a few English channels. Music was not heard if we closed slider but we were accross from Nikki Beach. The seperate toilet room was tight and the shower drain was clogged. Maid service good and staff always was friendly and said hello. Nikki Beach had good food for sure. Go to Gardenias for cheap good shrimp tacos a block or two away. There ia a Norwegian guy that runs a small coffee and breakfast place a block South of hotel. I think it's called El Javvo, amazing coffee and he is cool. Edith's restaurant two blocks away, delicious food with crazy good service but pricey. Overall the hotel was a nice place to stay if you want a bit of a scene and are willing to make a few new friends.
"We Shall Return"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 5, 2013
We just left the Fiesta Americana after a quiet week in the sun. We remarked several times at the lack of throngs of people. So if you enjoy dipping into your choice of 3 pools and and hut tubs and being quite alone, then do go at the end of January. We found the Fiesta to be immaculate, friendly, accomodating in every way. And the breakfast buffet is a must. We got up early for coffee and read at the table until we were hungry, aroung 10 a.m., then headed for the beach which is rocky. By afternoon, we were ready for the pools and late snack in the outdoor lounge. The shrimp cocktail turned out to be a combination of gazpacho and ceviche, and was a meal! We would definitely return. The hotel is closer to Cabo San Lucas than to San Jose del Cabo, but neither one is more than 20 minutes.
