Things to see

Puka Beach in the north of Boracay Island feels private and isolated thanks to the dense forest of thick green trees that surround it. Here you'll find long stretches of golden sand and clear blue seas, perfect for snorkeling and discovering playful fish darting amongst the coral reefs. It's also a great spot to pick up shells, and collectors will be delighted by the huge, colorful specimens that can be found hiding just under the sand. Crocodile Island is just a 15 minute boat ride from Boracay, and offers some of the best snorkeling and scuba diving in the Philippines. Luckily, the island is named for its shape and not because there are any crocs hiding in the water, but you can enjoy the peaceful stretches of clear ocean full of exotic sea creatures. The island itself also has a few restaurants as well as a sandy beach that feels nice and isolated from the crowds. Willy's Rock is a unique islet that is just off the Boracay coast, and you can wade out to it even at high tide, climb up the rock, and see the Virgin Mary shrine that has been built there, surrounded by colorful flowers and candles.

How to get to Boracay Island

Godofredo P. Ramos Airport in Caticlan is sometimes referred to as Boracay Airport. Although it's not on the island itself it is the closest airport geographically and has regular flights to and from Manila which take about an hour. From the airport you can then take a short ride by motorized tricycle to the boat jetty. This is a classic mode of transport in the Philippines, and the driver will be able to help you with your luggage. It's then simply a 15-20 minute ferry crossing to Boracay, and you'll arrive either at Cagban Port in the peak season or Tambisaan Port in the off-peak vacation months.
