Afine place for recreation, but t is not ok to be sent to the room without activating room key. If you need your laptop to work, you will find no socket for charging within reach of the desk in room. Take your room key with you and you have no electricity in room, hence charging had to be done in the lobby. Cumbersome to log on to internet as well, several attempts. Upside is that it was the end of the season, so the huge pool had only 10-15 people around in this large hotel. Breakfast was very, very good - service of staff likewise. Downside is that I found large dust balls adjacent to the bed. I left them there, and 4 days later it still had not been a part of my room cleaning, hence the 2 points. I do not fancy pebbled beaches, so that part of the hotel surroundings was not visited by me, but it looked ok. I missed a place where you could have late evening snacks not being an all incluside member.Tot take the bus to the old city was fairly ok, but you have to walk up to the main road, and being off season, I experience now show from the bus. That is when I missed the evening snack, as the 2 restaurants on the way from hotel closed rather early.Except Monday the pizza restaurant of those was available, but pizza is not the daily favourite. It was clearly off season, and the hotel was to close down for winter within a few days from my departure.

We were just here one night, waiting to join a cruise. The morning desk assistant was very helpful in finding details about our ship, which the tour company had not provided. He called the harbour and stuck with us until all was sorted out. Clearly he took a personal interest in our safety and happiness.

located near the old city (palia poli) of rhodes. the experience of going to this area was priceless. recommended. the stay at the hotel/apt was cheap for the location. the pool is not what expected, but everything else was above average. i would book again.
"Good location, above average hotel."

I wouldn't rate this hotel a 4 star in the the 4 stars of the U.S. or Western Europe, but the staff were accommodating and spoke good English. It seems to be highly popular as it was crowded and the free breakfast buffet was a zoo. The breakfast was okay, not very varied. The location was a few blocks away from the old town and Knights' Castle, so that was good. Unfortunately all the restaurants around were touristy with obnoxious touts who all but dragged you into their places. Eat at the Napoleon, just half a block from the hotel. Good value, nice staff who don't try to flim flam you, and pretty good food.

I traveled around Europe for a month and this was by far the best place I stayed the entire month! The rooms were simple, but adequate, the pool was great, the location was in a very little town, but only a bus ride away from Rhodes Town. The best thing about this place was the people! It is owned and operated by a family, who welcomes you like one of their own. My luggage had been lost and as soon as I walked in empty handed, they offered me their help. Marietta called the airport at least 6 times helping me look for my luggage and some regular guests offered me clothes. The service was excellent and the food was amazing. It is prepared there by the family. This place has everything you could ever need or want and I will definitely be going back and telling everyone I know about this place!

The price of this hotel is fantastic--and what you get for it is great. Clean hotel and rooms, beautiful pool and bar / restaurant open at (nearly) all hours!
My one complaint was that we didn't have a double bed (2 singles pushed together). With the tile floor, they kept sliding apart! If there was a double bed, it would have been perfect!

Very decent apart hotel in walking distance from the beach, the harbor, the old town of Rhodes, and 5 min walk from the amazing food place (Koykos). The state of amenities is a little bit shabby, but everything was clean. I personally liked the bed (and slept like a baby). The personnel was more than willing to assist and provide all information (regarding the sightseeing, rent-a-car, bus infos, etc).... Overall, one great experience

Overall an excellent experience. We had a large, well-furnished ocean-view room. The staff--front desk, bell man, maid, waiters and waitress--were all friendly, competent and quick to provide service. We will be back.
"Best hotel on our honeymoon!"

Ten minutes from the airport, ten minutes to Rodos Old Town, and right on their own private beach. So sweet! The reception manager was so awesome. They offer free drink vouchers to new arrivals, and gave us a couple extra ones since it was our honeymoon. We read that tips are included in the price, but are also highly appreciated in tough economic times. Where we live in San Francisco, when you tip the bartender, you end up getting free drinks here and there. Same here at Ixian Grand. Being genuinely polite helps too. Our room was a superior suite, but not the top shelf ones with private pools. Once we saw how small the private pools were, we knew we saved some unneeded expenses. Plus you are right on the beach with two large pools... one fresh water, one sea water. Nice! Their breakfast was a huge buffet that could rival the ones in Vegas... and of course came with the room, so no extra charge unless you wanted to go a la carte, which we didn't need to with such a spread. The one thing that threw me off, was that if you wanted dinner, you have to wear dress pants. I only brought shorts... oh well. That lead to us to adventure out into town, which was another added bonus. The Blue Palm has incredible cocktails and good happy hour deals. Rodos Old Town was prolly the highlight of our whole trip. So much history and medieval architecture, we were drooling every step of the way. The turkish mosque is a must see too. Go to the Socratous Garden for lunch. They have the best Greek style Lasagna ever! And they have Bitburger on tap... a potent German beer that is ultra refreshing on a hot summer day. (It is also the only restaraunt in Old Town that does not have a promoter outside trying to drag you in..it doesn't need it with a garden shaded by palm trees). Back at the hotel w soaked up the beautiful Ixia beach rays and swam in the Aegean for hours on end. We will go back next year for sure. Absolutely loved it!

Initially I found that booking with hotels.com was much cheaper than the Euro rate offered on the Mitsis Grand Hotel website. When we arrived at the Rhodes airport, the taxi driver told us that the Mitsis is the best hotel in Rhodes. Best to share a cab; 4 people will pay 5 euros each. The public bus is 3 euros and a real problem because it stops at every block on the way to the hotel and doesn't keep a regular schedule.
The location is amazing with the beach right in front of the hotel. The hotel staff was nice and friendly, although with the number of guests checking in and out every hour, plus the 12 hrs shifts they work, I can see why other guests thought the staff were not as cordial.
By U.S. standards, this is more of a 4* than 5*. The hotel was constructed in 1962, so yes, it isn't as clean and luxurious as a Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton. I would say it compares to your local Holiday Inn or Marriott. The room was spacious and they split our beds upon request (they usually stick 2 twins together).
There was plenty of room to spread out our belongings and we had a beautiful balcony looking out directly to the ocean. The pool was overcrowded with families, so we never spent time there. Also, you must pay to use the gym. The towel policy was a bit bizarre, requiring a 15 euro deposit. When we went to pay for our towel, the cashier said the register would be closed for 1.5 hrs. We walked around and bought beach towels for 4 euros to save time.
The breakfast buffet is amazing, delicious and fresh, plus you can get eggs and crepes made-to-order on the spot. The hotel is very safe, they offered storage during the morning of our checkout since we had a midnight ferry to Santorini and it made no sense paying for an additional night.
Overall our stay was positive, the location could not get any better, right on the beach and about 20 mins walking east to Old town. If you want to stay at a large chain, with tons of guests, and great location, you will enjoy your sta
