"a most excellent stay"

The Don Miguel was a most confortable and convienent hotel. The staff was the best and the dining experience was excellent. I would definitely recommend it too all my friends. I look forward to the next time I am in the country for an extended stay there.
"Fantastic alternative to the busy beach areas"
Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 18, 2012
We stayed here lured by the pictures and the location did not disappoint - amazing views of the mountains and valleys. The drive up/down is not for the faint of heart - very skinny cliff roads with many switch-backs and need to look out for bikers and locals passing you (and barely enough space for two cars most of the way) - but it is worth it (including the drive if you are able to relax enough to enjoy it). The hotel is by itself perched above the very small San Bartolome village, and there is little to do up there other than enjoy the view, hike/bike, or take advantage of the hotel facilities (with a very nice spa, pool, gym, and tennis courts). We preferred to drive down to the shore during the day (takes around 30 minutes due to the roads) and escape to the mountains for the evening.
As many on here have said, the food is not great, especially the buffet (which should be expected - not sure there is such a thing as a "good" buffet). However, ordering a la carte, the food is much better and likely cheaper than the buffet anyways. So, steering clear of the buffet dinner (breakfast is standard European buffet and is perfectly acceptable), there is little not to like about the place. Bed could have been a bit more comfortable, room was lacking in a few ways (no wireless - only in the lobby area, no corkscrews, very small tv), but all forgivable given the location (and that it's Europe, where few hotels have the standard amenities Americans are used to getting in decent hotels).
"Dunamar - nice beach location"
Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jan 2, 2011
Overall, our stay was very nice at the Dunamar. The hotel personnel were all very nice and seemed to be very cordial. The location was very nice, just across from the beach. When we arrived, our bags were missing from our flight; unfortunately the hotel was not able to provide much for us besides a toothbrush and a comb. Another disappointment was that we had to pay for all extras; the safe in our room had a fee as did towels at poolside, etc.. I understand paying a deposit (5 euros/towel), but not the fee we had to pay when asking for clean towels.
"Great Value, Nice Hotel"
Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Oct 4, 2010
We were there for our honeymoon and everything was very nice. The view from our room was great. We spend most of our days that the pool, which is very well maintained, or at the nearby beaches. The San Agustin beach is smaller with dark sand and slightly rocky, but there are nicer beaches just a short walk away. Short cab or bus ride into Maspalomas or Playa del Ingles. Breakfast buffet was alright, but we ate elsewhere for other meals.
"Good deal, nice hotel, nice room but crapy bed"

I chose this hotel for the location, walking distance from retaurants, shops, clubs. It is too far to walk to the beach but there is a free shuttle for those interested. The hotel has several pools with bar service and animations.
Room has separate living room from bedroom, and a very large semi-private balcony. I was given a room on the 8th floor (top), with a very nice view.
The only problem is the crappy bed. 2 double beds next to each other, bad quality hard spring matress. I did ask for a queen bed, but they do not seem to exist.
