"live music venue"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 3, 2012
Please know that you are staying right above not just a pub, but a "pub and live music venue." We stayed during the week, which I thought would be fairly quiet, but there were three nights of loud live music (out of four total). Things did quiet down though by 11:30 so it was fine. Very friendly staff and we enjoyed staying there. Would be nice if the room had had a bedside lamp for reading by and if the dusting were a bit more thorough.

I stayed for 2 weeks on buisness. Great hotel durring the week. Often has ballroom events on the weekend that can be loud on weekend nights (until midnight). If you are staying the weekend check on scheduled events or request a room on the higher floors.
"Very decent hotel, good area"Reviewed by Kerry S of "Baltimore" on Sep 24, 2011
I travel to Cambridge frequently and for the money this house is well placed. Chesterton is a fun part of town- convenient to the greens, walking distance to just about anywhere with many pubs close by. Ok, most parts of Cambridge can say that, but as a woman alone I wouldn't necessarily walk through all of them. Here I feel just fine tripping up to the co-op at 11pm to grab some last minute supplies. Some people have commented that the room was run down. The carpet shows its age but the room itself was quite well cared for, the bed comfy, the en suite bathroom clean and I felt ok using the towels and sheets. I've paid more for places where I couldn't say all of those things. Couldn't comment on breakfast as I didn't try it. The proprietor was polite and welcoming, pleasant enough during our interactions. I'd gladly stay there again, and in fact I probably will.

If you are looking for the run-of-the-mill B&B experience, then Arnie's is not for you. If you want a warm, friendly, almost family-like atmosphere where the caretaker treats you more like a friend than as a guest, then you've hit the jackpot. Although it is almost three miles from City Centre, their is a bus stop right out front and you'll be in the heart of the city in less than twenty minutes.
