You can either pick up a rental car or shuttle service, or you can take the bus from the airport to the Hartford Amtrak station, then take a direct train to Amherst which takes just over 2 hours. Boston Logan International Airport is also a popular arrival point for visitors from around the world, and this is less than a 2 hour drive away. Amherst Amtrak Station is also conveniently placed close to the center of town, and from here you can take the Vermonter line as far as Washington DC and St Albans.
