Beautifully appointed room, very charming. The location in the heart of Florence streets right next to the Dome! Lots of shopping nearby, fabulous leather items; stock up on gifts here. Lots of food choices in walkable distance. We walked to the Gallery Accademia where we saw The David, do not miss that! Do make online reservations to see the museum or you may wait forever to get in.”
I was not expecting to find such a room at such a great value. We were greeted by the owner when we arrived. He and his wife assisted us in getting parked and unloaded are large amount of luggage after a long trip through Tuscany. They couldn't have been more welcoming. Be advised that if arriving by car that you must provide your plate numbers to the owner upon arrival as the neighborhood is in an area for restricted/neighorhood traffic only. Not a problem though. The location is great. Across from the Maggio Theatre and US Consulate. The neighborhood was clean and it felt very safe (residential/retail) and not touristy but within walking distance to everything. Another plus was that the Bed and Breakfast includes free Wi-Fi. The owner speaks excellent English and was happy to assist us with any questions we had and recommendations. After a 14 day trip and staying at several bed and breakfasts it was one of my best B and B experiences. The rooms was a good size (for Italy standard) and comfortable. Best of all it was quite and clean. The shower was also good. Their is TV in the room but the only channel in English was MTV. Not to worry though as it is enjoyable watching Italian TV. Thankfully, the breakfast was served every morning and we were greeted by the helpful staff and after a long day of walking to a clean and comfortable room with nice linens that was warm in the winter in the evening. Upon departure we were helped again by the owner in ordering a cab. We would stay their again and plan on doing so on our next trip.”
We had a great stay at the Grand Minerva. The staff was friendly and always helpful. The pool was fantastic to come home to after a day of sightseeing - the kids loved it! The view from the pool/roof top was amazing! The location - near the train station, but central enough to all the sites - was perfect as a take off point to see other places in Tuscany.”
We were delighted with this hotel. Lovely staff, all very welcoming and cheerful and helpful. It has the feel of a family-owned/run hotel. They want you to be happy. It's small and old. The rooms are old and tastefully-decorated. We were lucky getting a room at the back overlooking quiet back yards: you could have been in a country village. And yet you're only 300m from the railway station, maybe 350 or 400m to the Duoma, and only yards from relatively-inexpensive restaurants, bars, and quite a big (for Florence) park. Breakfast was good too. Definitely a hotel I'd recommend.”
We had a family room for 6 days, which was excellent - spacious and well maintained. Good size bathroom with good shower. The reception staff were very helpful and there is free use of a computer and internet in the lobby. The breakfast was typical continental fare: cerials, pastries, rolls, ham, cheese, fruit, yoghurt. The location is great - a very quiet street in an area where there are some quite noisy ones! It is very close to nearly all the sights, e.g. 5 minutes walk to the Dome, 10 mnutes to the Uffizi, etc. and only 5 minutes from the bus and train stations. All in all, highly recommended!”
This hotel is in a great location close to train station and but stops. It helped allot as we were traveling to many cities and had allot of bags. Hotel was not very up to date or clean, but the breakfast was great! Air conditioning was working and cold. Overall good choice.”
I enjoyed my stay very much. The staff was friendly and the ambiance was wonderful. Quiet neighborhood and very safe it seemed. As far as the suites, my friends' room actually had a bathtub and large closet. Mine had a shower in the middle of the bathroom, but that was nothing more than a minor inconvenience. Hotel is not terribly far from the duomo and is on the line for the bus that goes up to Fiesole.”
After a long train ride to Florence, my husband and I were pleasantly surprised at both the location of the hotel as well as the amenities offered in the room. We feel that we got more than what we paid for. Our one complaint (if you can call it that) would be the size of the shower. It was rather tiny, but the size of the bathroom itself more than made up for this. Finally, the location was spectacular. We were right in the middle of town, which made it easy to go back to the hotel if needed. We definitely would recommend staying here.”
perfect location--walking distance from train station. walking distance from duomo and close proximity to other attractions. close to lively area. great breakfast. great rooftop restaurant and bar. very comfortable room and bathroom.”
The rooms were beautifully decorated, comfortable and very soundproof. Excellent staff with friendly, professional service. We loved the courtyard and landscaping - we ate breakfast every day at the outdoor tables. The buffet breakfast was good with excellent service. The location is about a 20 minute walk from the center of the city but was not a problem. The hotel staff recommended wonderful restaurants that were no more than a 10 minute walk.”
