Being happy with a choice of hotel is all about expectations. Our expectations of the Stars hotel was that it would be basic, functional, acceptably clean and comfortable, and represent value for money at the very low rate we were charged. In the end, the hotel lived up to this expectation 100%. It's not de-luxe. If you're expecting the Ritz-Carlton, you'll be disappointed. The room is adequate for 2 people, theres a decent bed (a little basic and firm, but we slept well), it's clean and there's a tv on the wall. The bathroom has everything you need, and is clean, if small (disabled/very large guests would find the shower cubicle impossible). There was plenty of hot water, and the staff tried their best to help whenever we asked (for example, the lady on day shift managed to find us a couple of extra pillows to supplement the two provided). Location-wise, the hotel is literally across the road from a huge shopping mall with a fantastic array of stores and a large supermarket. It's also 5 minutes stroll from a metro station. In summary, if you're on a budget and looking to explore Lille on foot, you could do worse than stay here, save a few Euros and take the metro into town every day. If you're driving around the region, there's free car parking, and the hotel is easy enough to find and close to the motorways. All in all, we got what we expected at a very low price, and that was all we asked for.
