"fantastic location"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jan 29, 2013
We felt that this was one of the better hotels we had ever stayed at and the bar at night was lively with entertainment. The rooms were comfortable and the layout of the hotel was very nice. The service was excellent. The only drawback is that they state they have an indoor pool but it was more like the size of a whirlpool for bathing. If you are looking for a real pool, this is not the hotel for you! The location was perfect and the city is beautiful!
"Superb"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Nov 26, 2012
I stayed there 10 nights the second week on November 2012. I had a great experience. The room was cleaned every day, was verified by another person. Everyone was friendly, courteous and professional. Would stay here again.

above average hotel for business travel. Better than Holiday Inn in States... Internet service very weak in room however better in common areas. Impossible to pay partially for internet - (although the options would indicate otherwise). Severe mark-up on cab fare when ordering through hotel. Having said - for Russia it's probably better than average.

I enjoyed the stay for the price paid; would definitely do it again.
"Great hotel in ideal location"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Oct 18, 2012
This is a first class hotel in a wonderful location - walking distance to everywhere you want to be as a tourist. The staff is friendly and helpful and speak English! We upgraded for a minimal amount to a very large, comfortable room with a street view - we heard no noise. Breakfast was included with this room - well worth it. We definitely recommend this hotel for a stay in St. Petersburg.
"Great location. Very close to the metro."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Sep 30, 2012
People in the hotel were very friendly. The swimming pool and sauna were just as good as any 5 star hotel in the US. Free use of computer in the lobby was great. Breakfast was excellent with all different kinds of food.
"Great value"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Sep 26, 2012
The Vera is a very nice small hotel on a moderately busy street about 15 min walk from the central railroad station and closest Metro stop. A bus in front of the hotel takes you all the way to the Winter Palace and the center of St. Petersburg. The single roomy and bath I had were rather small but adequately equipped and very clean. The mattress could be more comfortable. A good breakfast is included in the moderate daily rate. The English-speaking staff were knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. The restaurant is excellent and, for Russia, inexpensive. Their daily prix fixe menu is an especially good deal. Overall great value for the money.
"Good value"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Sep 13, 2012
The hotel offers sauna on premise and free pass to the 12 types of saunas & steamrooms in its sister hotel (Sokos Bridge, 10 min walk). The staff is helpful & friendly and mostly fluent in English. The hotel lobby is not impressive but rooms are clean and adequate. The neighborhood is good and safe. Hotel is reasonably close(30 min. walk) to all usual touristic sites. You can also take public transportations to everywhere. The metro is about 15 mins away. Buses number 7, 10, 11, & 24 are at the intersection of 8 Linya and Bolshoy Prospect next to the hotel. There are many shops and restaurants nearby. Several 24 hrs stores are nearby and one is just adjacent to it. You should also explore the restaurants in the neighborhood. Particularly a Russian restaurant “Russian Kitch” (25 Universiteskaya Naberezhnaya, 10 mins walk) and a Georgian restaurant Kafe KAHAPEUKA located in an alley off of the street right behind the hotel. lso do not miss the open bazaar in the street behind the hotel with brick oven bakery, fruit stand and a souvenir shop that gives you one of the best prices. For transportation to and from airport call city cab companies ahead of time and make reservation for pick up. It will cost you almost half of the cost of getting a taxi from the airport. However, if you have an early flight you should know that the bridges on your side of the city are not useable before 5:15 am. The hotel is very good value and we will certainly stay there again.
"nice hotel near the train station"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jul 11, 2012
Since we arrived late by train from Moscow the location was ideal. It was a long but interesting walk to the main sites. Breakfast was good and the room was clean. We liked the design on the rooms window which allowed us to sit on the ledge and watch the sites. Found a great Armenian basement restaurant on the back street of the hotel (look for a English menu sign on their window as you go down the steps)l
"The place to stay in Petersburg!"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 17, 2012
The hotel is in walking distance of the major sights. At least if you are willing and able to walk for more that half an hour. For the others, there are taxis. Service is very friendly. The hotel restaurant has a great menu and great service. Try the fish soup and the veal dish. I wish I had more time to stay. I'll be back.
