  We had a lovely experience with Citotel Levasseur. It was clean, modern and a good location. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

  I stayed at the Premiere Classe for 5, yes 5 nights while working at the 24h du Mans Moto. It was a last minute arrangement and this was the only hotel available in town. I read the reviews of the hotel and it was with considerable trepidation that I booked my stay. It was perfectly fine. It is not amazingly luxurious and I wouldn't stay here on my honeymoon. But it covered the important points: it was easy to find, within a 2 minute walk of a tram stop, 2 minute walk to Place de la Republique and all the restaurants/bars there. The room had a bed, a shower and WiFi. (as a side hint, bring your own soap. There is a soap dispenser in the bathroom but it's quite awkward to access while in the shower) The bathroom is quite small so getting to the toilet required a slight gymnastic ability. I see people complaining about the check-in process, breakfast, etc. For me check-in was smooth and no problem, the reception staff spoke excellent english and were more than happy to help me figure out the process of buying tram passes. The main thing to remember is that street level is level "-2". Reception is on level 0, so from street level get in the elevator and go up to level 0. People complaining about the facility need to wake up a bit. This hotel costs LITERALLY half as much as the Ibis (a 2 star hotel) a few blocks away, and probably a quarter the price of the Mercure. If you want a nice luxury hotel there are several in Le Mans. The breakfast (pay an extra 5 euros per day) is basic... coffee, cereal and bread rolls, but perfectly fine for a quick bite before running off to the race track. Would I stay here again? Well, to be honest if there was a higher-star rated hotel available at a not-too-outrageous price I would probably stay there. But if circumstances dictated that I stay here again I would and not feel too sad about it.
