"Great Hostel"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 10, 2013
I didn't consider this a hotel. I did, knowingly beforehand, share my room with 2 other strangers. For Australia prices I do recommend staying here and it is a very clean hostel. There are numerous shared bathrooms on each floor. And pray that the person who used it before you was clean. Had to pay for internet use.
"Ignore poor reviews..."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 9, 2013
Read a few poor reviews ahead of stay.Stayed 5 nights with no problems.Location isnt downtown. Its halfway between CBD and St.Kilda area but I knew that beforehand.Nice area across from huge park.7-11 is only a block behind hotel.Staff and accommodations were both fine.Only complaint is ridiculous internet charges.
"Nice Hotel but Depends on what you are looking for"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 2, 2013
Overall this is a nice hotel but there are some things to consider depending on your plans. First, the room is rather small although the bathroom is spacious comparatively. It is close to the car rental area making it a convenient pick up/drop off location if you are renting a car. It's very close to the queen victoria market which makes it a nice starting off point in the AM but it is on the outskirts of the CBD so getting through the city on foot becomes a hike if you are staying for more than a day or two. We stayed in a hotel that was more central for the first few days, then before renting a car and hitting the the GOR we dropped off some luggage at the hotel. They were nice enough to hold it for us. We chose the hotel because of its proximity to the car rental agency since pick up and drop off is a bit of a hassle in Melbourne with costs of parking and no overnight drop offs at the car rental agencies. I had reserved a space in the hotels garage prior to leaving however when we got there and had to park they told me it was full and don't take reservations. When I explained the situation they were able to find me a spot. The misinformation is a bit annoying but expected when traveling, it's the fact that they helped us through it which is nice of the hotel staff. So we ended up spending our last two nights here giving us time at the market. which is a short walk.
"Comfortable & Convenient"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jan 29, 2013
The room was a great size with a lovely little balcony. It was not far from the main st in St Kilda, convenient location. I do believe the street can get a bit sleezy but we saw none of that. The only problem was the room smelled of smoke. Someone before us most likely smoked on the balcony but the scent wafted in. Other than that the room was kept very clean and was great value for money.
