  This is a decent hotel for the area and the price. I didn't feel that any of the hotels in the cairns area were particularly nice resort hotels or that they were new and plush places to stay. This hotel fell into the same category. Service was attentive and helpful, location was good though if I went back to cairns I would probably stay closer to the marina to make walking back and forth from excursions easier. The rooms are spacious and comfortable but it is very dated as far as fixtures, carpeting, bathroom, etc is concerned. Compared to the area it's a nice place to stay but if you are looking for an elegant and plush resort to stay at you probably will have a somewhat better chance with hotels along the north beaches.

  We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The room was very comfortable and clean. There were 2 pools which we did not get to use. The hotel is only a few blocks from the Esplanade and the dock. The hotel clerks were very helpful with recommendations and bookings.

  Highlight of our stay were the 10s of thousands of 1meter fruit bats that lived across the street and came out every night. If you like animals these are amazing. The hotel is a prefect location to see them. This is an apartment style hotel with no room service but location to the Esplanade makes it a great choice for the $

  We stayed in a spa room at the Hilton Cairns and loved it. The bathroom was very nice (though the bath tub was a little small). We had a great view of the harbour. The bed was amazingly comfortable. My only complaint was that we could get the room cool enough with the A/C.

  Great hotel and location for the price. I thought about staying at some of the higher end hotels, but glad I went with the Holiday Inn because it was significantly cheaper and still everything I valued. Right on the strip close to everything. Cairns is not a big city - you can walk to either end in an hour, so if you are looking for a great place to crash this is it.

  The Villa Vaucluse is a great place to stay in Cairns. You can't beat the price. I didn't realize that the room I booked would, in fact, turn out to be a fully furnished mini-apartment, complete with a kitchen and a small washer/dryer. I highly recommend the Villa.

  Staff was very helpful and gave us courtesy service to boat to Green Island as well as booking it and a ride to the train station on departure.

  Location was perfect for 4 night stay. One block from reef terminal. Gave top rating because even though the hotel is a little dated, it was very well maintained. Requested a ocean view and got a L shaped balcony with ocean, mountains and marina views. Great for relaxing after long days of sight seeing. I had a late night arrival and before saying a word, was greeted by the desk clerk with, "Good evening, Ms____. Welcome to Cairns." Very nice after a long day of travel. I was alone in Cairns and also felt safe at all times during my stay. I only ate breakfast at the hotel. The buffet was good and had a nice selection. Travel agent located in lobby to book my tours. I would stay at this hotel again.
