Those on a budget should consider basing themselves in Dearborn or Troy. Dearborn is home to the Henry Ford Museum, whilst Troy boasts the glamorous Somerset Collection Mall.

How to get to Detroit

Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport is the main gateway into Detroit, situated a convenient 20 minute drive away from the downtown district. It’s a particularly well connected airport, with flights to most major destinations in the United States, as well as a handful of direct connections between Europe and East Asia. Once you’ve landed the most efficient way to get into downtown is via a taxi, which costs around $45 dollars. The city is also reachable via the Greyhound bus and the Amtrak railway service. Buses terminate at Howard Street near to downtown, whilst Amtrak’s Wolverine service stops at the station in Detroit’s New Center area.
