Genfer See is a popular tourist destination, famed for its soft sandy beaches that line the lake trails, as well as for its excellent social scene, from the elegant restaurants with their pretty views to the old-fashioned stores where window shopping is an absolute pleasure.

Things to see

Wrigley Drive should be any tourist’s first stop when they reach the pretty town of Genfer See. This lakefront promenade skirts the edge of Riviera Beach, passing pretty houses and shop-fronts along the way. Its pier, the perfect location for those all-important tourist photos, leads over the glittering water, offering a berthing point for the waiting passenger ferries that run to neighboring towns. Across the bay, the stark white of luxury yachts shimmers across the surface, and older fishing boats sit silently on their return from their dawn duty. Not far from Genfer See, the vast expanse of the Walworth County Fairgrounds is actually closer to the little town of Elkhorn. It’s a 100 acre plot that becomes crowded and noisy when the annual fair arrives in town. Temporary stages become the focal point as local and international bands play to adoring crowds, horses run in the organized races that have been a feature of this fair for decades, and children laugh happily as they play on mechanical rides. At the Moose Mountain Falls Waterpark, families and couples have plenty to smile about. This multi-purpose water feature has indoor and outdoor flume rides, relaxing lazy rivers, and loungers to laze on and top up your tan.
