What a grand and beautiful hotel. My only complaint is that more rooms don't have a deck to access outside. I don't like to be in rooms that have no outside access. I din't ask but I saw only 4 rooms that actually had a deck and I'm sure come with an extra charge.”
Other than the construction taking place in the room next door which made it impossible to take an afternoon nap it was a very nice place to stay. The staff was friendly. We wanted a Bay view which wasn't available but got rooms on the north side of the property which turned out to be perfect for the Sunset view in March. "Sam's" next door was a four star place to eat. We ate dinner there twice and lunch once. Hiking and Tide pooling at Fitzgeralds Marine Reserve right up the road a couple of Miles to the North. Redwoods and Mountain lions in the Canyons a few miles to the South. Great shopping in the village a couple of miles away. Hotel has excellent access to the hiking trails along the Bay.”
Great location, on the main street in Half Moon Bay. Many great beaches within 10 miles. Wonderful breakfast, with fresh fruit, quiche, etc. The suite was really one HUGE room... ideal for a family, just bring an air mattress. We enjoyed the complimentary glass of wine in the afternoons, too. The staff was friendly and helpful.”
Decent quality little motel, right near a little shopping center and restaurants. Nothing special about the motel, but great little location.”
Beautiful Hotel, but when I checked in my room had a view of the parking lot, paid for shoreview. The clerk said i only had a partial view. I explained that I had no view and he changed the room out for us. We were very happy with everything.”
Our first Bed and Breakfast experience. The management were very nice, friendly and helpful. Not intrusive at all. Got us settled in , explained the process of meals and how thing operated and then got out of the way. The ocean view from our patio window was magnificent and peaceful. We could have stayed there forever.”
I have not stayed at many B&Bs so I did not know what to expect. The garden room is a separate, upstairs (but attached) room from the main living area. Wonderful personal touches in the room like complimentary decanter of sherry, cheese & crackers, water, and soft drinks in the fridge. Jetted tub is great for one but would be tight for two if you're over 150 lbs. Shower is open and over the jetted tub with no curtains - forget about modesty. Nice spectator sport while my wife was showering. Fireplace does not produce heat - for looks (ambiance) only. Electric (resistance) heat under window. No A/C. Rick brings a very nice breakfast up to the room at a pre-arranged time so you can sit by the window and enjoy breakfast in your underwear if you want. Nice, bright, south facing windows next to table but no real view of anything except a large shrub and other roof lines. Good selection of taped movies and recent magazines along with local cable service. TV is smaller CRT type (with built in VCR) kind of stuffed in a closet but most visitors would be doing others things besides watching TV anyway. My wife, as I'm sure most women, absolutely loved the place. I liked it because she liked it. I don't recall seeing a telephone in the room but we all use cell phones now so it really doesn't matter. We were invited to join the other guests downstairs in the evening if we wanted with snacks provided. I would return again.”
We stayed in a ground floor room in the back. Very well maintained grounds - clean surroundings- nice landscaping. Room was very clean - much appeared to be new, and beds were very comfortable. We liked the location because it was about 3 blocks from the beach down a quiet residential street and at the beach there was a long (16 mile round trip)bike path as we brought our bikes. Free breakfast was nice- waffles, yogurt, cereal, bagels, fruit and more. Very helpful and courteous staff made you feel welcome. It is on Highway 1 so there is a possibility of road noise but perhaps because we stayed in a rear room we heard nothing. One downside - not a major problem but could at times become one - was that you could hear other occupants thru walls - so room soundproofing an issue. We always travel with ear plugs in case we find ourselves with any kind of noise problem so we were fine. Overall - the kind of pleasant and uneventful hotel experience you want.”
Wow what an amazing place, I have made another reservation for next month, cant wait to go back! Beautiful view, beautiful hotel, and the breakfast was yummy!”
