"could be a great hotel with a little effort."
by Roy G. in Whitby, Ontario
This is a hotel that could be one of those undiscovered treasures if the staff would show a little concern for the comfort of its guests. Upon check in they demanded a cash deposit for the room key. Even though they had my credit card. I asked for a room with drive in parking but was put on the third floor and had to park at the other end of the hotel. I would have preferred to park in front of my room as the neighborhood is somewhat seedy and I didnt feel comfortable parking so far away from the hotel doors. Did not bother to tell me that you need to put your room key in a wall slot and leave it there in order for the lights/tv/airconditioning to work. This meant I was fumbling in the dark for 5 minutes looking for the phone to call the front desk to ask how to turn on the lights. Hallways leading to the room were not well lit. I would be nervous if my daughter was staying here. Breakfast is a poor selection of prepackaged muffins, coffee with non dairy powdered whiteners. My room key had to be reset daily as they couldnt be bothered to set it for the 4 days I was staying. The room had a minibar stocked with water and soft drinks but were warm because the refrigeration unit did not work. Furthermore They did not bother to post any prices for the items. I did not purchase any as I did not want to find out that I was paying some outrageous amount.. No alarm clocks in the room. You will have to rely on the front desk for a wakeup call. Forot my wake up on one day and 15 minutes late on two days before I went out and bought an alarm clock. Bathrobes, towels and linens were great. Shower was stocked with travel size shampoo and 1lb bars of soap. No natural light gets into the room. MIne had a skylight covered by a shade that could not be opened. Had to be buzzed in throught the gate. NO ID required. Had to be buzzed to get out. but not until they could verify my name and room number. (You read this right) no ID to get in, but you cant get out until they verif” 01/25/2010
