With leafy streets and modern shops and restaurants, it's a popular area for families, as well as commuters who enjoy the easy links to Seattle. However, you're never far away from nature, and the city stands in the shadow of the dramatic mountain landscapes that surround it, with trails and outdoor activities just outside the built-up areas.

There's also the natural setting of the Home Course Golf Course which is popular with locals, and here there are 2 separate 9-hole courses, with a family-friendly atmosphere and regular state and amateur championships taking place here. Sequalitchew Creek used to be a trading post, and you can enjoy the lakes and forest areas by following the trail of the old railroad tracks. You'll also find an unspoiled pebble beach where you can sit and look out for herons, seals, or even the odd gray whale that lucky visitors will spot swimming to the surface.
