The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion is an outdoor amphitheater with nearly 20,000 seats, as well as a large lawn area where you can enjoy relaxing on the grass and watching world-class acts. The venue plays host to many major music acts, from classical to rock, as well as cultural offerings such as the Houston ballet and various opera companies. You can also enjoy the fresh air at the impressive The Woodlands Golf Resort which has 18 holes set around a lake and surrounded by evergreens. There's even a unique island finishing green, allowing you to truly put your skills to the test. The Woodlands Mall has 2 floors of popular branded shops, including several major department stores, a huge food court, kiosks selling jewelry and gifts, and a colorful kids play area where they can burn off some energy. Under 7s will also adore The Woodlands Children Museum where the focus is on exploration and interaction. There are workshops where children can learn a new craft, or simply enjoy some imaginative play, and plenty of bright and bold exhibits to hold their attention.

Where to stay

The Woodlands has a large town center which consists of several malls, as well as the popular Market Street area. Here you'll find open air shopping with a classic downtown feel, and there are many small boutiques and independent retailers in the area. It's also a popular spot for restaurants, from popular fast food chains to more upmarket options, all set around the Central Park, a charming oasis of greenery where you'll see lots of live music and open air events. How to get to The Woodlands

George Bush Intercontinental Airport is to the north of Houston, less than 20 miles from The Woodlands, and there are plenty of rental cars, taxis, and shuttle services to help you arrive at your hotel quickly. The Houston Amtrak station is also a useful arrival point, and from here you can take the Sunset Limited service as far as Los Angeles or New Orleans. There's not much in the way of public transport to The Woodlands, although there is an express commuter bus service which has limited runs to Houston, and the nearby town of Conroe has a Greyhound station connecting you to the USA wide service.
