Chicago is also known as "The Windy City" a nickname that comes not from its location near Lake Michigan, but refers to the long-winded and boastful speeches of Chicago politicians. It is the third largest city in the United States and has a varied climate, making it very cold in winter and hot in summer. The Magnificent Mile in Chicago

The Magnificent Mile is Chicago’s largest shopping district and home to many of the city’s famous landmarks, including the neo-gothic Tribune Tower and the John Hancock Building. If you’re on a shopping spree you can stay nearby at one of the many hotels in downtown Chicago, which include the Four Seasons Chicago and several Hilton hotels. Alternately, the city’s boutique hotels are perfect if you’re after a unique experience.

How to get to Chicago

O’Hare International Airport (ORD) is Chicago’s main airport and one of the busiest in the world. Travellers can reach downtown hotels quickly via the CTA Blue Line from O’Hare. The other major airport in Chicago is Midway International Airport (MDW) where you can catch the CTA Orange Line trains to luxury hotels in the downtown area. Chicago’s intercity rail station is Union Station, which run services to New York and other cities.

Visit Chicago’s Wrigley Field to see the Chicago Cubs in action. There are plenty of hotels in Chicago near Wrigley Field and if you’re on a budget you can get great deals on a cheap hotel in the area. Don’t miss the family fun and fireworks at Navy Pier. Stroll through Millennium Parkto see Cloud Gate (“The Bean”) and the Art Institute of Chicago’s new Modern Wing. Hop on the free trolley to the Museum Campus to visit the Field Museum of Natural History, the Shedd Aquarium and the Adler Planetarium. Or visit the Loop, Chicago’s business district and step out onto The Ledge at The Skydeck at Willis Tower (formerly, Sears Tower).
