"In the heart of downtown, close to shopping"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 26, 2013
My wife and I had a good experience at the Silversmith Hotel. It's a small, old hotel on the same street as the elevated train, which we thought would be a problem. We had a room in the back of the hotel, so we never heard the train at all, but it's handy if you need to travel that way. The hotel is a historic landmark and has been well preserved and updated with all the current amenities. Our room was larger than we expected for an older Chicago hotel and was complete with a large flat screen tv and a refrigerator. Also, they have free wifi in the rooms and throughout the hotel. We had a few "issues" during our stay, but the hotel staff was more than responsive and solved everything very quickly. The parking is expensive and more than the nearby public lots, but if you need your car during your stay, it's the only way to go (public lots/garages don't have in and out privileges). The hotel is only a block off of all the shopping on Michigan Ave and there are many name brand stores within a block or two walk. We would definitely stay at the Silversmith again.
"Perfect for the Loop!"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 26, 2013
We wanted a great little room right in the Loop, and that's what we got. The staff were very professional, the decor is chic, and you've got the Elephant & Castle pub right downstairs for breakfast, lunch, dinner, cocktails, what-have-you. You're just down the block from the famous Berghoff, walking distance from theatres and great restaurants, and right between 2 Blue Line stops (makes getting to & from O'Hare flawless). The refillable water bottles and purifier down the hall is the best system yet for fresh drinking water in a hotel. Absolutely ZERO complaints about the Club Quarters, and oh yes, we WILL be back.
