"Great deal for the price"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 25, 2013
The room was clean and comfortable, although the furnishings were dated and the hot water was lukewarm. Parking is free. If you don't want to drive in the city, a half mile walk gets you to public transportation to everywhere and Michigan Ave shopping. Plenty of restaurants as well as Starbucks, Whole Foods and a drug store are within a couple of blocks. We felt safe walking at night.

It was fine. It would have been helpful if the snow that had accumulated overnight had been plowed away from the cars - or at least the section where my car was - so that I did not have to wade through snow and go into the lobby to ask for a shovel or someone to help. Since it was after 9:00 a.m. at that point and the snow had stopped before dawn. When someone did come out to help, he was terrific.

Did not like the $14 parking fee!
"Center of the Action"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 19, 2013
The Villa Toscana is in the heart of "Boystown" on Chicago's North Side (Lake View Neighborhood) and within easy walking distance to Wrigley Field and the L rapid transit. It is on a busy street with frequent bus and cab service and the neighborhood is quite safe. The inn is well cared for, but like many older homes, has paper-thin walls. Additionally, the neighborhood is full of bars and nightlife but it is LOUD and I mean LOUD on this street at night--with bar time 4am weekends. We slept well but could hear the action, and this was the winter with the windows tightly closed. Summer, the inn keeper tells us, is even more robust. Fair warning--for the right trip, you'll have fun!

They gave me a remodelled room with a flat screen TV and new bathroom, so that was great! The room was cold but they provided a space heater. Everyone who works there is very accomodating. And the price is right!
"Great if on your way to the airport"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 11, 2013
The shuttle service was great! They even took us to dinner and picked us up since we arrived by train.
"Very nice hotel"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 4, 2013
We were staying downtown to see a concert, location of the hotel was great, RIGHT off the red line, very convenient. Considering how close to the train tracks, noise was not even a concern. Mini bar prices were SO cheap, that was awesome. Definitely an old hotel and very small rooms, TV channels didn't all come through very well, but I would definitely stay here again for an event in the area. Also, the staff were VERY friendly and helpful. Brian at the front desk was very charming as well as the guy setting out breakfast the next day. The continental breakfast was pretty good as well. Overall great hotel!
