It's two blocks from the Moscone Center and one block from BART and MUNI, and a short walk to Union Square, but having most of its rooms high enough off the ground to lessen the street noise and also provide nice views. I've also tried similarly rated Victorian-style hotels in the area and found myself disappointed by street noise (screaming homeless drunks, sirens, honking horns) or else views of brick walls outside my windows.”
The hotel is very clean and modern. The location is good - close to restaurants and the Embarcadero. There are lots of small touches that are quite nice (morning coffee and tea, afternoon water, lemonade and iced tea, evening wine party, late evening cookies and milk). The staff were helpful when I needed directions, etc. Warning - some of the rooms are quite small! Be sure to check on this when making your reservation.”
bathroom is small, hot water for shower is on and off while taking shower. you can hear the noise from the street . we were there on Sat night and Sunday morning. we like the location it is closed to the cable car stop, China town. I missed the hotelat the first round and have to pull into public parking a little further from the hotel and walk back to locate the hotel. the bed and pillows are comfortable. room is clean. the front desk is helpful.”
Initially we were concerned about what the surrounding neighborhood would look like and why the price was so cheap. The hotel exceeded our expectations across the board. The hotel was tucked into a quiet side street and also along the busy Lombard Street. The hotel was clean and quiet. Every morning there was a small breakfast consisting of muffins, coffee and juice. There were easily enough muffins for everybody and they were good as well. The rooms were not huge, but we were just looking for something to sleep in, with most of our time touring the town. Even one day when the temperature was warm enough to make it a bit uncomfortable, we opened the windows and turned on the fan. The only knock, was the shower was very sensitive when trying to find the right water temperature. There was a bus stop at the end of the block that we regularly used. The bus that services that stop goes to Fisherman's Wharf, Chinatown, and to Union Square. We will definitely stay here again.”
My husband and I took a weekend getaway to San Francisco, and this hotel was in a superb location, great service and with its comfort and convenience gave the two of us a wonderful trip to San Francisco..I would without a doubt stay here again when we go to San Fran for a visit..”
Absolutely charming. The service was superb. The people working at the desk are extremely friendly and made sure we had everything we asked for. We stayed for 8 nights and hated to leave. The surrounding neighborhood isn't the best but the personnel made it so enjoyable that it was worth it.”
We were walking distance from restaurants, cable car, buses, shopping, etc. The hotel is definitely older, but it was very clean. We had a courtyard view so it was very quiet even though we were only 1 block from Union Square. We would stay here again!”
My stay at the Hilton was my first time ever in San Francisco. The hotel was nice but not very cozy. I stayed in the financial district so everything was very fast paced and full of tourists. Overall, the Hilton is a good choice if you are looking for convenience but I did not find the hotel to be comforting or romantic.”
This hotel has a great location. You are right in the middle of Union Square and can easily walk to any of the shops around there. If you want to walk to Fishermans Wharf, you can just follow Powell Street all the way. Takes just about 30 min. I got a room not facing the street and had no problem with noise that others have complained about. Couldn't here anything from the neighboring rooms either.”
