"Comfy hotel but beware of Tenderloin"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 26, 2013
Comfortable hotel, and close to Union Square. But it is located a little bit too close to the Tenderloin district, which is a bit seedy and menacing to walk through, even during the daytime. Hotel had free coffee/tea service in lobby from 5am-10am, but would've preferred coffee maker in the room. Bathroom was quite cold compared to room, which had temperature controls; bathroom floor was frigid, and with no slippers provided, had to run across it to avoid frostbite. Got half-price deal, so it was worth it, but would not likely stay here again at regular rate.

"Yes you can hear the street but its San Fran"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 26, 2013
Cute retro hotel built in 1908 and feels like it with some modern touch up. The staff was great! Room was clean and bed was good enough. Our room was 5th floor up from trolly turn around. So we did hear the trolly start dinging at 7am but lived next to railroad for yrs so no biggie. But when the band started playing and the clown horn and microphone guy preaching it was time to get up. But hey wasn't in the city to sleep. I would stay here again except in the summer due to no ac unit. Location you can't beat!
"Very Pleased"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 26, 2013
I was a bit worried about the location and condition of this hotel. I knew it was next to a very nice restaurant but still a bit worried. The location was prefect for my needs, the hotel staff friendly and professional, my room was clean although a bit small but perfect for one person to sleep and get ready comfortably. The evevator is slow but it's an older hotel and I think that's part of the charm. I recommend it if visiting Chinatown, Northbeach or shopping in SF.

"A great location and a comfortable stay"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 26, 2013
I have stayed at this hotel before and it is always a treat. A perfect location and a taste of early 20th century style for those tired of typical hotel chains. Many excellent dining locations nearby.
"Nice places"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 26, 2013
The hotel is in a great location. The rooms were very nice and the customer service was great. The only problems were the elevators were very slow and you couldn't get back in some of the doors because they locked and didn't have key card pads to get back in so you had to walk all the way around in some cases. Other than that it was a great experience and I would definitely stay there again.
