The ski season sees the picturesque mountain resorts come to life, with young and old making a yearly pilgrimage to the peaks.Things to seeVail Ski Resort is the largest single mountain resort in the US, and the 4-mile run at Riva Ridge won't fail to get your adrenaline pulsing. Afterwards, retire to a cozy bar to enjoy a well-earned bottle of ice-cold beer by a crackling fire. Beaver Creek Ski Area is another fantastic resort, which was originally penciled in to host the 1976 Winter Olympics. If you've a head for heights, you'll find ascending the mountains by gondola a thrill in itself, as your feet dangle inches above tree lined mountain tops on the Strawberry Park Express Ski Lift, and Centennial Express Lift. It's not all about skiing, however, and the summer months see the snow melt away to reveal hair-raising mountain bike trails, and rugged hiking opportunities. Beaver Creek Golf Course, on the other hand, gives you the chance to lean back in satisfaction as you watch your drive fizz down the center of the fairway, towards the snow-dusted mountains in the distance.
