Gilded with a mile of soft sand, San Clemente State Beach lures in sun worshippers and surfing aficionados alike. Scenic hiking trails meander about the beach’s coastal bluffs, whilst a landscaped area provides a picturesque picnic spot. The former home of the city’s founder Ole Hanson, Casa Romantica is both San Clemente’s historical gem, as well as a cultural and social hub. Built in 1927 in the Spanish Colonial Revival style, the estate sits within tranquil gardens overlooking the Pacific. Set amongst rolling greenery with yet more views to the sea, San Clemente Municipal Golf Course provides 18-holes of play. With long fairways and numerous hazards, the course comes suited to all ability levels.

How to get to San Clemente

Situated approximately 27 miles away from its core, John Wayne Airport is San Clemente’s nearest gateway for those flying in. It’s well connected to many major cities in the United States, with services to Atlanta, Chicago, Denver and, San Francisco, amongst others. Once you’ve landed getting to your hotel just takes a few minutes in a taxi or pre-arranged shuttle. San Clemente is also reachable via the Amtrak railway. The Pacific Surfliner makes a stop at San Clemente Pier station, on its San Diego to San Luis Obispo route. Those driving in will find the city easily accessible too, with Interstate 5 running straight through it.
