Scottsdale offers the best of both worlds when you're planning a vacation; not only is it a peaceful desert resort close to national parks, it also has a more lively side, with a busy cultural scene and nightlife that's the envy of many big cities. From serene golf courses to glittering casinos, Scottsdale is a great place to unwind and indulge, with world class shopping during the day, and a downtown area that's drenched in neon at night.

Things to see

Stylish and luxurious; the Scottsdale Fashion Square is an essential stop for shopping addicts, with several designer anchor stores, big brand favorites, and chic boutiques. Set over 3 floors, this bright glass paneled mall attracts the well-heeled from across Arizona and beyond, and there's an excellent selection of cafés and upmarket restaurants when you need to refuel. If you want to enjoy the sunshine, then a trip to the world class Boulders Golf Club will allow you to enjoy the warm desert air, while challenging your golf skills. Despite being in the desert there are lush greens, and the course is surrounded by huge sandy colored rocks with sand dunes and exotic cacti. Once you've played on one of the 2 full 18 hole courses, you can enjoy a round of tennis, or be pampered in the full service spa. Casino Arizona is a great spot to spend the evening, with vast rooms full of slot machines, blackjack, roulette, and poker tables. After you've tried your luck on your favorite game, you can relax in one of the lounges and sip a cocktail, or try one of the restaurants onsite. There's also a busy schedule of entertainment, from dance lessons to tribute acts, with glamorous Vegas style shows.
