"Breakfast Buffet Makes up for Older Hotel Fixtures"

My fiance and I came to Abilene for the races at the Abilene Speedway and spent 3 nights at this hotel. The hotel itself is dated, but not to the point it was miserable. Our room had two queen beds and the bedding was really nice. The room itself had a few tears in the carpet and in the wallpaper and there were a couple of interesting spots on the ceiling, but nothing that couldn't be ignored. We didn't have a flat screen television like we saw in some of the rooms when the doors were open while being cleaned, but again, it wasn't a huge issue for us. There was a very nice outdoor pool and patio area with a pool table, gas barbecue grills (gas provided by the hotel) and a flat screen television, but it was too cold to be outside to enjoy it. The breakfast buffet was great. They had ham, sausage, bacon, biscuits, gravy, french toast, waffles, an omelet/egg bar along with thot & cold cereal, toast, bagels, doughnuts and fruit. The only thing to remember about the breakfast is that at 9:00a.m. sharp they pull the plates, so be sure and get there early enough to enjoy. The only problems we had were our key cards didn't want to work and we had to have them re-set twice and the shower liked to change temperatures so it was hard to maintain a consistent temperature while showering. Overall, we were happy with our stay and would stay there again if we come back to the area. With continued updates, management could definitely make it a top hotel.

The check in was pleasant. The man behind the desk was very polite and helpful. My room was clean and comfortable except there was no trashbags in the trashcans and there was a used cofee filter in the coffee maker from the last occupants. We had to go way down the access road then go under I20 and get on the next access road to go back the other way to get to the hotel. There was a lot of construction at the time that may have caused this. I would deffanantly stay here agin though.
