Newport Beach, in Orange County southern California, comprises of a three-mile stretch of sand and a couple of piers jutting out into the ocean. It is one of a series of popular beaches along this part of the Californian coastline but is notable for its lavish homes and the equally lavish lifestyles of the inhabitants. John Wayne Airport (SNA) is the closest airport. The Pacific Coast Highway runs through the town. Ferries run to Catalina Island.

Balboa Pier and Pavilion were built in 1906 and thus are the city's oldest structures. Balboa Fun Zone dates from the 1930s and is an old-time amusement park with Ferris wheel. To enjoy the beach and attractions you can base yourself in one of dozens of ocean hotels. For the more serious-minded there is the Orange County Museum of Art. Close to town is Crystal Cove State Park, a Newport Beach destination for those who enjoy nature and the great outdoors. Newport Beach is also a surfers' paradise.

The hotel is basically on the beach, so location is great. Staff is very helpful and breakfast served outdoors is included in rate. But parking is expensive and inconvenient.

Stayed only 1 night, but hotel was very clean and was in a good area. Small hotel, only two stories and I didn't see an elevator. There was an ice machine available and a liquor store across the parking lot. Easy walk to pier with lots of restaurants and bars nearby. Only small issue was the bathroom didn't have enough counter space to put your toiletries on. But overall I would highly recommend staying here.
