I had a very comfortable stay. The staff was both friendly and helpful. Plus the beach was just a hop away, The room was clean and comfortable.
"Great business hotel"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Apr 24, 2012
This hotel is very expensive but you get what you pay for. The service and the amenities are great. Unfortunately it is not convenient for working downtown. It is quite a way from central Rio.
"Great hotel"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Apr 22, 2012
We were very happy with our stay. The only problem we encountered was that the bar tender at the pool was not willing to alter any drink recipe to make my drink not so strong. I ordered a blue lagoon and it was too strong for me and asked for him to add some pineapple juice to it and he refused and made me order something else. A way to get me to pay for another drink perhaps? Other than that we were very satisfied.

"Great Value"Reviewed by Jose S of "New York" on Apr 4, 2012
Great value for the money. Nice premises, pool on the roof, good restaurant. Nice staff - though front desk girl somehow distracted. Neighborhood is just OK, there are better closer to Copacabana or Ipanema, but easy to access using hotel transportation. We stayed for family vacations.
"Pretty Good!!"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Apr 3, 2012
Good location - close to Ipanema Beach and a decent walk to Leblon. Lots of stuff goping on right on the adjacent corners. Room was big. Breakfast was fine. Staff was usually friendly and tried hard with English. No complaints.
"On quiet safe beach but out of the action"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Apr 3, 2012
On Barra beach front which is quiet and safe (most others are not in Rio especially out of 10-5 timescale). It is out of the action so 25mins 40R taxi ride to centre but only 10mins from Barra centre which is the safe middle class suburb of Rio where everyone is moving to due to threats elsewhere in Rio. Upgraded beach front room had big terrace, big bed, decent size, split air con. Room service was minimal after 10pm but pizza was fine. Others would go for the big name beaches but Barra is perfect, safe and quiet; if you want danger, noise, crowding by all means go big name beaches but IMHO as a non city slicker they are over rated (been in and out of Brasil for 2 years now and seen/heard of things that happen; they will not happen to everyone but you do not want to them to happen to you so eyes wide open..) Stay at Hotel Transamerica normally if you want even more boring location! Anyway. Good hotel, good location, fair price for Rio.

"Lancaster Othon"Reviewed by Tamera V of "Iowa" on Apr 2, 2012
We recently stayed at the Lancaster in Rio.The location was perfect. The staff were helpful and friendly and spoke enough English to get by.They upgraded us to an ocean view without charging us extra. The breakfast was very good and had a good selection to choose from.I kept everything in my room and never had a problem.....I left with everything I came with. The maids did a good job with clean sheets and towels and we always had hot water.I would definately recommend this hotel.
