"GREAT Location"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jan 3, 2013
We stayed here with our young children - we simply could not find anything else in the area during NYE, so we did not know what to expect. The staff is very accommodating and patient to help or offer advice. The room was minimal, but very clean, and the housekeeping kept it in good shape everyday. The area is quiet and safe. The location is OUTSTANDING and compensates for the fact that it is not directly on the beach. It is a 3 block walk to either Ipanema or Copa. It is also a very shot walk to the reliable Metro (train). The brunch is very good. I couldn't get enough of their fruits and coffee. We were initially concerned about theft, but that was never the problem as the maids didn't even take the gratuities we left for them. It was overall excellent value.

Close to good dinning and metro stop. Hotel staff was helpful but not very knowledgable with english. The neighborhood was on the dingy side but very safe, if you can look past the run down neighboorhood this hotel is good. The breakfast was very nice they bring it to you in your room because they don't have a dinning area in the hotel. I would gladly stay there again.
"Interesting place"Reviewed by Rick Du of "Arraial d'ajuda" on Jan 8, 2012
So when you first get to this place in the morning, it looks like you made the wrong the decision on choosing this hotel. But then you go out into the street at night. This place is nuts. All kinds of music and interesting people. Drinks in the street are cheap and strong. Chicks are hot. Varrious shady looking characters . The music is bumping. And the street of full of people. Parts of the street smells like human waste, but yet there are beautiful people all around. But don't be surprised if there is a hooker checking into the hotel before you do.
"Santa Clara - nice neighborhood, walk to beaches"Reviewed by Charles H of "Princeton, NJ" on Aug 15, 2011
This is a charming hotel, much cheaper than those on the beach, nicely themed with artwork, in a pleasant residential neighborhood, about 10-15 minutes' walk from Copacanbana beach through interesating neighborhoods and shopping districts.
