"Perfect Distance from FQ and Convention Center"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 26, 2013
We stayed at the Lafayette Hotel during a recent conference in New Orleans. Since most of the conference hotels are basically only close to the Morial Convention Center, we wanted a location that was a bit more in the middle of sights. We lucked out! This hotel was in a nice quiet area (only noise was the streetcar going down the street every half hour, but it was an almost pleasant sound!), and equidistant from the French Quarter and the Convention Center. It was close to excellent food and was easy to travel back from drinking in the quarter. Plus the bed was HUGE and one of the most comfortable I have ever stayed in. Will definitely recommend!

"Great, quiet location"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 26, 2013
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and made up nicely each day. The hotel is old but well maintained. It is close to many attractions and away from the noise. The wi-fi signal wasn't as good as it should be, but maybe that's because we were on the fourth floor. We would definitely stay there again.
"Close to city center - far from noise!"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 26, 2013
The hotel was great, location is perfect. You can walk to French Quarter, but you are far away from the noise and craziness when you had enough of "partying" and ready to go to sleep. The place is huge, several restaurants in the building. Try John Besh's Oyster spaghetti!. Have free Jazz on the weekends, and a $9.95 unlimited dessert bar! Rooms are not that spacious but comfortable and clean.
"Wish it were closer to the action in the French Qu"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 26, 2013
I had a very good time in New Orleans and would recommend the Melrose Mansion with a caveat about the walk to the main French Quarter.
