Mount Airy HotelsTuck into hearty servings of crispy Southern Fried chicken in retro roadside diners, discover the secrets of local history behind the walls of red brick museums, and enjoy a leisurely stroll through Mount Airy's central streets, exploring chintzy emporiums, gaudy tourist stores, and cramped crafts shops with shelves piled high with colorful scrapbooks, stamps, and glittery things.Things to seeThe modern, brick-built Andy Griffith Museum is a tribute to Mount Airy’s most famous son, the actor known for many productions including the celebrated Mayberry Days. Inside, its impressive collection includes recognizable movie memorabilia, personal items, and trinkets that belonged to some of his co-stars, donated in remembrance. Throughout the year it’s a hive of activity, welcoming rowdy rodeos, garish fairs, and vibrant festivals to its land. In the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Mount Airy hides another treasure. The Cross Creek Country Club has all the charm of an elegant southern estate.
