Things to see

John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park was the first underwater park in the USA, covering over 70 nautical square miles of clear blue ocean. Whether you view the colorful reefs from the comfort of a glass bottomed boat, or dive in and explore the depths in an organized scuba tour, you’ll never forget the beauty of the abundant marine life in this area. One sight that’s hard to miss is Christ of the Deep, a bronze statue that has been placed underwater, looking up towards the surface. The statue has tarnished and decayed slightly over the years, yet still stands proudly surrounded by marine life. Both novice and experienced divers will enjoy a trip to the MarineLab Undersea Laboratory, where you can learn all about underwater habitations and enjoy the view of sea creatures swimming nonchalantly by the windows. Dolphin Cove allows visitors to enjoy the ultimate bucket list experience; swimming with dolphins. The center has a natural lagoon where you can enjoy frolicking with the gentle creatures, and perhaps even get a ride along in the water while grasping on tightly to their fin. Dolphins Plus also offers you the chance to get up close to these magnificent mammals, with both structured and natural swimming programs available.
