In the vast areas of desert land you'll now find the Historic Wendover Airfield Museum which sits in the shadow of surrounding rocky grey mountains. Climb the air control tower and you can enjoy a view of the old bunks and buildings where servicemen lived and trained for the fateful last days of WWII. Inside the wood paneled Hall of Honor you'll find gleaming glass cases full of uniforms, artifacts, and photos commemorating the brave men of the air force throughout the years. Wendover has sweeping landscapes including the dramatic Bonneville Salt Flats which have a white, shimmering quality in the sunshine. You can walk or drive across the flats, and there are regular racing events with all sorts of modern and vintage vehicles use the smooth surface to perform stunts and gain extraordinary speeds.

How to get to Wendover

There are flights from across the USA landing at Salt Lake City International Airport, with visitors enjoying sweeping views of the salt flats as their plane comes in. The airport is a 90 minute drive from Wendover, and there's also a Greyhound coach from the center of Salt Lake City that takes about 2 hours. There are also a number of private coach companies who visit Wendover for the casino facilities, and this is often the cheapest way to visit from cities nearby.
