"a quiet gem above the madness"

Varinda Garden sits on a hill above the tourist-filled beaches of Koh Samui Island and what you give up in near-ness to a beach is more than offset by the solitude, friendly service and unique charm of the resort. You can easily forget about the maddening traffic of motorcycles and cars on the road below. And with a large swimming pool filled with constantly- flowing, warm water, and surrounded by palm trees and tropical plants, who needs a beach anyway. A water slide is at the dividing line of two halves of the pool, and adults seem to enjoy it as much as kids. The decor of the restaurant and surrounding grounds is original and very tasteful -- in a very Thai way. Calling it quirky doesn't quite do it justice, since it all comes together nicely. Family-friendly, I'd love to return with our grandkids some day.
"secluded but great location"

We had a great time at Sunset Beach Resort. The service is exceptional compared to other resorts in Koh Samui. The breakfast is the best part of the resort. The only downside is that the rooms need some new sheets and the jacuzzi had leaves falling into it. Overall it was a great location.
"good location, friendly staff, great beach"

while chaweng is tourist central (seriously feels like spring break), banana fan manages to feel secluded with its private bungalows and perfect beach. we loved that the beach massages offered are actually in a small ocean front room so it feels private. restaurant food is great, especially the breakfast buffet. the staff is incredibly friendly and warm. the manager went above and beyond to email us even AFTER our stay to update us on thailand weather and give travel tips. the only downside, the beds are rock hard. but we realized this may be a thai thing. at least there's unlimited $7 massages.
"Comfortable and relaxing place"

The hotel is conveniently located a short 10min drive from the airport. The rooms are very comfortable and the staff do a great job in making sure that the rooms are always clean. They even lit a scented candle in the bathroom twice a day. The pool is very nice and conveniently located just a short walk from the rooms. The beach by the hotel is very nice and the water very warm. Thevonly drawback is that there are no beach chairs on the beach... One of the best features of the hotel is the restaurant, Olivio, which serves both Italian and Thai. The menu is so extensive that you can eat there twice a day for a week and not each the same type of dish twice. If you're looking for a relaxing and comfortable stay, I would definitively recommend is place.
We had a great stay at the Napasai. It was not too crowded which was great and the service was very attentive. The bed was surprisingly hard but neither of us woke up with sore backs so that was good. The neighborhood was basically non existent and you needed a cab to get to the nearest areas.
