"a quiet gem above the madness"

Varinda Garden sits on a hill above the tourist-filled beaches of Koh Samui Island and what you give up in near-ness to a beach is more than offset by the solitude, friendly service and unique charm of the resort. You can easily forget about the maddening traffic of motorcycles and cars on the road below. And with a large swimming pool filled with constantly- flowing, warm water, and surrounded by palm trees and tropical plants, who needs a beach anyway. A water slide is at the dividing line of two halves of the pool, and adults seem to enjoy it as much as kids. The decor of the restaurant and surrounding grounds is original and very tasteful -- in a very Thai way. Calling it quirky doesn't quite do it justice, since it all comes together nicely. Family-friendly, I'd love to return with our grandkids some day.

Our room was clean & very comfortable and quiet. The entire staff of the resort is friendly and they all try to make everyone have a very pleasant stay. The breakfast buffet is delicious. We ate almost all our meals at this resort during our 8 night stay. At night dinner is served on the beach just in front of the resort - the food and service was fabulous. In addition, Pearl, singer, and her husband, key board, provide entertainment 6 nights/week. Their music is top notch and varied. Not to be missed.

This is a fantastic resort. The pool is wonderful and the massage staff (right by the beach!) are incredible. Apart from showers which were either very hot or very cold and a small ant issue in the bathroom, we loved our stay here: everything was clean and wonderful! Part of the hotel was under construction, so there was occasional noise in the daytime. The (have-to-pay) Internet worked without a problem in the hotel lobby, just as they explained. I thought the surrounding neighborhood was quite touristy, but my friends didn't mind and the Weekender was good enough that we could have stayed there the whole time and completely enjoyed ourselves.
"The spot for relaxation."

I had a wonderful stay at Code. The staff was amazing and went out of their way to accommodate. The rooms were extremely comfortable and clean. If you are looking to relax on a vacation and want some privacy, this is the place to stay. Note that it is not a location that you can walk around from. The hotel is situated way off from the main road. The hotel provides complimentary transport to the beach at certain times of the day and will pick you up at off hours for a small fee.
"Nice hotel, beach not so nice"

Nice hotel, very clean and in the middle of Lamai Beach. I imagine a nice beach in front of the hotel... To my surprise I wasn't able to swim. Ocean was extremily brave in front of the hotel and sorroundings...
"Fairview - nice place on Ko Samui"

The hotel is away from the crowded beaches, which is nice. It has it's own private beach and a pool, so if you're just looking to relax it's a great choice. The only downside of being removed from the crowds is that it is also removed from restaurants, shops, and other things to do. The hotel does have a shuttle service, but you have to reserve your seat in advance and the shuttle only runs at specific times (it is not all day). The hotel food was decent, but overpriced for Thailand. I didn't find it to be as impressive as the reviews I'd read on TripAdvisor indicated. Instead of eating the hotel food, take a 10 minute bike ride up the road and find a place to eat there. There still aren't a lot of options on the road, but you'll get a similar meal for 1/2 the price.
"beautiful and unique"

the kale is an amazing hotel. the deck on the water is lovely, the breakfast is FANTASTIC, and the service was impeccable. four points of feedback for the hotel: 1. wish they had a constant shuttle to lamai and chaweng, considering how far it is (and taxis are expensive) 2. toiletries in open, slippery containers is not hygienic! 3. we were super bummed the pool was being cleaned for TWO days of our stay. 4. prices at hotel for lunch and dinner are crazy. we would have eaten at the hotel much more if they were more reasonable.
