"Good alternative to Copenhagen, strange bath setup"
Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jun 18, 2012
COpenhagen hotels were all booked up on a recent THursday-Friday business trip, and so I booked at the Scandic Kramer, which is located on a nice square a very convenient 2 blocks from the Malmo main train station -- which has very easy and frequent rail service to the COpenhagen airport (15 minutes) and central Copenhagen ( 25 minutes). THe hotel is an older-generation hotel, which seems to be the case for most of the Malmo hotels I observed, but is well maintained and has a nice Old World feel to it, nice northern EUrope breakfast buffet set-up, etc. Room size was actually nicer (bigger) than some of the more modern Scandi hotels I've stayed at, and the price more reasonable than central Copenhagen. My only complaint: the bath setup was not optimal. I am not unfamiliar with the setup of some older EUropean hotels where there is no shower, but rather just a bath with a handheld spray/ shower attachment. I don't love it, but I've seen it and can deal with it. But in this case, the tub was mounted on a marble-sided/floored platform that needed a lot of care climbing in and even more climbing out since by that point the surfaces are all wet and slippery. And because it is elevated about 1 1/2 feet, when I stood up ( I am tall), my head hit the ceiling quite hard. IN sum: Nice hotel, convenient and reasonable alternative to Copenhagen, but the bathroom setup could be perilous, especially to the tall ....
